why do my messages keep getting deleted? they don't stay for anywhere near the time it says they will.

After how short a period of time are they disappearing?

sometimes 1 day, sometimes a few hours

my inbox shows 1 message. it originally had 2. i read one, changed screens, came back and both were gone. it still shows one unread.

so this is a case of the messages disappearring in 30 seconds.

Was this maybe an alert message? ie a system one, or was it from another member?

i haven't really kept track of alerts or such if they are disappearing too. i am refering to messages from members. they don't change from unread to read or anything like that. they disappear. i think it mostly happens if i leave the in box before reading them all (i'll read one, click on the person's profile to see who sent it, and when i come back to the in box, all will be gone)
