Either neatly trimmed (closely) or completly shaved. Perfer shaved though.

I prefer shaved, wife prefers c;osely trimmed
I do the shaving & she does the trimming, usually takes a while & gets very energetic

I like mine either totally shaved or a little landing strip that is very closely trimmed. I think it looks better.
