My other post reminded me of this.
My wife and I were returning from Germany. In mid flight, the Captain came on the intercom. He announced that exactly 100 years ago, the Wright brothers had made their first flight.
Here I was, on a plane, with a wingspan that was wider than the distance of the first flight (777), I was over the Atlantic Ocean flying at @540 mph (2.5 hours earlier I had got a BJ under the blanket). Plus the Captain had told us earlier we had a large headwind and would be late getting into Dallas that would make us miss our connecting flight. 10 minutes earlier I had used the sky phone to call American Airlines and changed my flight. Pretty easy since there is a flight home from Dallas every hour.
My deepest thanks to that pilot. Who else would have known and shared that fact with us?
