This thread kind of reminds me of the time I asked a mechanic at the plant about the prognosis for a heater that was down . . . his reply:

italian fuck is fottere but it depends from the meaning you give to the word.
ex: like to fuck you (fottere)
but when you say "what the fuck " we cannot use "fottere" but the word cazzo (cock). ex. " ma che cazzo!!!
many different meaning....
